The first ever retail Windows Phone 7 device, an HTC 7 Trophy, has just been sold in New Zealand (where it’s already Oct 21) as seen in the picture above. Unfortunately everybody isn’t going to be able to get one tomorrow because of the current stock of WP7 devices in the world. Even thought HTC denied that there’s any delay (which is true) there’s no WP7 handset stock anywhere and everything is apparently allocated to carriers (principaly Orange in UK, France..) and non premier WP7 carriers like Vodafone/SFR are apparently very low on stock and you probably won’t be able to get a device before the end of the month. Yeah it sucks but one has to remember that HTC is currently launching 6 different models all in one month (Trophy, Mozart, HD7, Surround, Desire Z and Desire HD) and Samsung barely has enough Super-AMOLED panels for the Galaxy S manufacturing chains and now has to build 2 more devices using these same screen (Focus and Omnia 7).LG’s Optimus 7 should be widly availalbe starting next week but nothing is set in stone yet.
