The MTW Briefing
A free email briefing for people who want to make better technology decisions — which phone is actually worth buying, which network change matters, whether the new AI feature is useful, and when a "deal" is not what it looks like. UK-focused, written by our named editors, no recycled launch noise.
What the Briefing is
The MTW Briefing is the email version of what we do every day: cut through the marketing and tell you what a launch, price change or new feature actually means for a buyer in the UK. It is written by the same named editors whose bylines appear across the site, not auto-generated from a feed.
It is built for the decisions that keep coming back — the ones a single news story rarely answers. Should you upgrade now or wait? Is your network still the right one? Is that "AI" upgrade worth paying for? We do the legwork so you do not have to read twenty launch posts to get to the point.
What subscribers get
- The week that mattered — the handful of phone, network, AI and gadget stories that actually affect a UK reader, with our take on each.
- Buy / wait / skip calls — clear guidance on whether the latest launch is worth your money, or whether last year's model is the smarter buy.
- Genuine deals, sense-checked — price drops we have verified against the usual selling price, not inflated "was/now" theatre.
- Plain-English explainers — what a new feature, network change or regulator decision means, without the jargon.
- Reader questions — we answer the buying and how-to questions we get asked most.
How often it lands
We send the Briefing on a regular, predictable rhythm — typically weekly — with the occasional extra send when something genuinely big happens (a major launch, a network shake-up, a price change worth knowing about today). We would rather send less and be worth opening than fill your inbox to hit a quota. We do not send daily, and we never pad a send just to have something to mail.
Why subscribe
Because the point of the Briefing is to save you money and time. Most tech email is a press-release digest. Ours is editorial judgement: independent, UK-first, and willing to tell you not to buy something. If that is the kind of advice you want in your inbox, it is free to get and free to leave.
