HTC is announcing today the acquisition of french based software company Abaxia who is builds custom UI for mobile operators. You’ve probably never heard of them but chances are that you have witnessed their work especially on Orange’s handsets (yes they are the ones who developed the much hated Orange home screen on WinMo and Android and Symbian…). This acquisition will probably only affect HTC’s Android and BrewMP handsets (Windows Phone 7′s UI can’t be changed by the OEM or Carrier) Check out the full press release after the break:

ACQUISITON OF ABAXIA

TAOYUAN TAIWAN – June 7, 2010 – HTC Corporation, a global designer of smartphones, today announced it has acquired Paris-based Abaxia, a leader in custom software for mobile operators and handset manufacturers around the world.
