Tomorrow is going to be a big day filled by HTC’s event and the launch of Internet Explorer 9 Beta (I’ll be present at the event at the Microsoft Campus). Even-though the G2 has already been announced a few days ago HTC has just posted the official specs sheet of the device today. The G2 will probably known as the Desire Z in Europe and Asia/Pacific so this will give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from tomorrow event in London:
Processor 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM 7230 Operating System Android 2.2 Memory 4GB ROM, 512 MB RAM Display 3.7-inch WVGA 480x 800 resolution, capacitive touchpanel Network GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 UMTS: Yes GPS GPS/aGPS Camera 5 megapixel color camera with auto focus and flash Connectivity Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Power Rechargeable battery, 1300 mAh Talk Time Up to 400 minutes for WCDMA
Up to 590 minutes for GSM
(The above are subject to network and phone usage.)Standby Time Up to 430 hours for WCDMA
Up to 430 hours for GSM
(The above are subject to network and phone usage.)Dimensions & Weight 119mm(L)x 60.4mm(W)x 14.16mm(T), 180g with battery pack
There’s no word on the screen technology being used. Unlike previous models HTC probably doesn’t want to communicate on this given the AMOLED shortage situation. My guess is that some handset models will either have an SLCD panel or AMOLED panel.
