In another attempt to storm the mobile business market Microsoft has teamed up with Home Depot to put Windows Phone 7 into the hands of the companies associates to enable them to check stock inventories, scan products etc. Even thought WP7 still doesn’t support a lot of business oriented features (VPN, software deployment outside of the Marketplace etc…) Microsoft isn’t shy about it’s new mobile platform and is doing all it can to regain market share in the business sector. PR video after the break:
UPDATE: Microsoft has apparently made a mistake in it’ promotional video and made it sound like Home Depot was deploying a whole fleet of WP7 devices. But this isn’t the case at all according to M.Hayens from Home Depot who contacted me:
The video testimonial that was published on the Microsoft site included testimonial regarding our experience with WP7 during the early adopter program and also discussed our rollout of Windows Mobile 6.5 devices. Unfortunately, the text accompanying the video made it appear that we are rolling out 7 devices. We are considering 7 for other enterprise needs, but our current rollout is on 6.5. Microsoft and the production company that produced the video are working to resolve the confusion.
