This shouldn’t come as a surprise given all the info that I’ve gathered these past months. LG is currently working closely with Microsoft on Windows Phone 7 Series handsets (there’s a dedicated LG Team at Microsoft) but Microsoft’s newly announced OS won’t ship until later this year, so LG decided to invest more into Android. Skott Ahn, the head of LG’s handset unit, told the press that during MWC “Our strategy is not to make an independent mobile platform of our own at least for the next two to three years,” and that the company will focus on Android & Windows Phone 7 Series development. The LG Mini will probably be one of the last devices running a proprietary OS.
