HTC has announced today that has sold appreciatively 24.6Million handsets in 2010 and generated a net profit of $500M. Peter Chou has also expressed its desire to favorably compete against Apple iPad in the tablets segment when the company finally unveils its much rumored and anticipated Android slate devices in a couple of weeks.

“It’s a new market with many competitors, and we don’t want to rush into it,” Peter Chou, HTC chief executive, said.

“We hope the product we eventually unveil will be one that meets consumers’ needs.”

HTC had previously indicated that it was expecting to ship nearly 60M device in 2011 but didn’t break down the ratio of Android vs WP7 devices.
