This was…unexpected. Google has just announced the launch of a Google Search application for Windows Phone 7 that will give users the ability to use the Montain Vue search engine on their “Bing Powered” Windows Phone 7 handset:

This initial release of the Google Search app includes several features that help you to search faster – suggestions appear automatically as you type, you can choose to repeat a query from your search history, and your current location is used to provide more relevant results.

This is a pretty basic application but now that Google has released this I’m fully expecting them to port Google Maps and their other services to Microsoft’s new mobile platform. The app should be available today in the Marketplace.
