The Realme Watch S5 is the budget smartwatch story of the week, landing in India on 22 May 2026 with a 1.43-inch AMOLED panel, an honest 16-day battery claim and a launch price of INR 7,499 ($80 / £65 / EUR 75). GSMArena confirmed the specs the same day Realme unveiled it alongside the realme 16T phone and Buds Air 8 Pro earbuds.

Key facts
  • 1.43-inch AMOLED, 466×466 resolution, peak brightness Realme has not officially fixed beyond “bright AMOLED.”
  • 460mAh battery rated 16 days in normal use, up to 20 days in light mode.
  • Built-in five-system GNSS GPS, Bluetooth 5.4 calling, 5ATM water resistance.
  • Launch price INR 7,499 in India ($80 / £65 / EUR 75). Sale starts 5 June 2026.

What the Realme Watch S5 actually offers at the price

The Realme Watch S5 is built around a 1.43-inch AMOLED display at 466 by 466 resolution, the same panel size Realme used on the Watch S2 Pro but with a fresh circular design that drops the square-dial look the company kept for three generations. The case is aluminium alloy, the straps are silica gel, and the whole thing weighs 49.6 grams with strap on. For a £63 (about $80) watch in 2026 that is impressively understated; most rivals at this price point still ship plastic shells.

The headline spec is battery. The Realme Watch S5 carries a 460mAh cell that Realme rates at up to 20 days in a “light” usage profile and 16 days in normal use with heart-rate sampling on and notifications enabled. That is roughly four times the runtime of an Apple Watch SE 3 and double a Galaxy Watch FE. The trade-off is that there is no Wear OS, no third-party apps, and no proper voice assistant: Realme runs its own minimal RTOS, which is what unlocks those numbers.

Realme Watch S5 sensors, GPS and fitness tracking

The Realme Watch S5 ships with an independent five-system GNSS receiver covering GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS. Independent in that wording matters: the watch can record a run, a bike route or a hike without a phone tethered, which the Apple Watch SE still cannot do for navigation modes. The watch carries an SpO2 sensor, a continuous heart-rate monitor, 110 sports modes, and Realme’s usual VO2 max, recovery duration and interval training breakdowns.

Bluetooth calling is on the spec sheet too, courtesy of a built-in speaker and microphone. That means the Realme Watch S5 can pick up calls on your wrist when your phone is in another room, which is a small but real quality-of-life win at this price. Our earlier Apple Watch Series 11 vs Galaxy Watch 8 comparison covered the same feature at the high end, but it has trickled down to the budget tier with the S5.

Where the Realme Watch S5 sits against budget rivals in 2026

At £63 (about $80) the Realme Watch S5 sits directly opposite the Xiaomi Watch S4 Active, the Amazfit GTR Mini 2 and the Noise ColorFit Pro 6, with the OnePlus Watch Lite as the outsider. None of these run Wear OS, all of them lean on big-battery RTOS designs, and all of them target the same buyer: someone who wants a real sports watch on the wrist without paying Apple, Garmin or Samsung prices.

Pricing, regions and when the Realme Watch S5 reaches the UK

India gets the Realme Watch S5 first at INR 7,499 launch (regular INR 7,999), with sales starting 5 June 2026 through Flipkart and Realme’s own site. UK and EU pricing is not officially confirmed yet, but Realme’s pattern with the Watch S2 Pro suggests roughly £65 / EUR 75 when it lands, with Amazon UK and AO.com the most likely first retailers. US availability is unlikely; Realme does not officially sell smartwatches in the US in 2026, so grey-market imports through eBay and Aliexpress are the only route.

If you are buying the Realme Watch S5 outside India, factor in a 10 to 15 percent currency margin and check that the global firmware variant matches your phone’s region. Realme’s regional builds can lock out certain notifications and watch-face stores. Our recent best wireless earbuds UK 2026 buying guide covered the same import gotchas for the Buds Air series, which launched alongside the Watch S5 in the same Realme event.

Should you buy the Realme Watch S5?

If your phone is an Android in the £200 to £600 band – a Nothing 3a Pro, Pixel 10a, Galaxy A56 5G or OnePlus Nord CE6 – and you want a real sports watch that lasts more than two days, the Realme Watch S5 is now the obvious answer. The AMOLED, the 460mAh cell, the GPS and the Bluetooth calling cost half of what Garmin and Samsung want for similar feature lists. If you already live in the Apple ecosystem, the SE 3 is still the more sensible buy because of HealthKit, watchOS apps and fall detection, even at three times the price.

The one weakness worth flagging is software. Realme’s RTOS is fine for tracking and notifications but does not support proper third-party apps, contactless payments outside India, or rich messaging replies. Our take on the broader budget-wearable problem in the Wear OS 7 coverage applies here: AMOLED and battery life are commodity; software is where the bigger gap is opening.

MTW verdict

The Realme Watch S5 is the best £63 (about $80) smartwatch of mid-2026. AMOLED, real GPS, 16-day battery and Bluetooth calling at a price every budget rival has to answer. Buy it for Android, skip it for iPhone.
