HTC has just announced record Q12011 revenues reaching NT$104.16bn, up 174.5% year-on-year. The company has also shipped over 9 Million handsets in this year’s first quarter up nearly 200% compared to the same period last year. Things are definitely looking good for the Taiwanese manufacturer who is now aggressively competing against Samsung in the Android market. The Korean giant in now releasing it’s new Galaxy SII to rave reviews handset following the blockbuster that was the original Galaxy S last year.
HTC is not standing still though and is expected to launch it new super high-end models in the coming weeks starting with the HTC Sensation in Europe next week followed by the US version and the HTC EVO 3D on Sprint.
It is also worth noting that even though HTC currently owns the Windows Phone 7 market, the Microsoft platform (or the company’s WP7 phones) are no where to be seen in the press release, Q1 report or even the conference call. This just goes to show that Microsoft really needed a Windows Phone exclusive OEM if it wanted to be competitive. So why not partner with the biggest Phone manufacturer: Nokia? Let’s just hope that it won’t be too late.
