The first official mention of Windows Phone 8 aka Apollo has just appear in a job description on Microsoft’s careers website:

This promises to be a volatile world churning within the OS, Phone 8 as well as our AUT (Application Under Test) that we’ll ship in the Windows Marketplace! Our test team needs a few more key folks to compliment the talent already onboarded. We are looking for experienced and intelligent engineers to join our team! What does “a strategic and exciting product targeted at the next version of Windows” actually mean ? In a previous Windows Phone job ad I discovered a few weeks ago Windows 8 was specifically mentioned in there (it was swiftly taken down a few day later) and lend me to speculate that Windows Phone 8 would use the same Kernel as Microsoft’s upcoming desktop OS. But as of right now insider whispers are pointing that this is no longer the case so there’s still noting much to discuss here other than speculate on what Windows Phone 8 Apollo is going to turn out to be.
