Two of the most polished Windows Phone 7 applications have recently been updated. Let’s start with the USA Today 1.1 update which is packed full of new features:

New Features in v1.1:

– Live Tile! A photo mashup based on our latest headlines
– Latest news videos on a dedicated video panel
– Sub-section headlines: hold down any of the section tiles to bring up a list of sub-sections to choose from, i.e. Sports > MLB headlines. Tile will default to that subsection.
– Photo caption and credit for articles
– Recall last league viewed in Scores
– Major League Soccer scores added
– Celsius toggle for weather temps
– Support for international weather locations (limited maps)
– Weather alerts on current conditions screen
– Various bug fixes

USA Today still remains one of the best news application on Windows Phone 7 (video review here) and can be downloaded from here.

Then we have the 1.2 version of the DC Comics application (video here) which should contain some bugs fixes and finally allows you to free up some memory by deleting comics from you device:

The DC comics app can be download from here. Oddly enough application update notifications are extremely slow (delayed) to show upon my device ever since I updated to Mango 7712. Anybody else noticed this?
