As I reported a few days ago Microsoft will start sending Windows Phone 7 development handsets to select developers next months but the second solution, starting this fall once the OS is launched, will be the ability to unlock up to 3 retail handsets and side load application onto to the phones via Visual Studio 2010 and Expression Blend 4. Microsoft will first allow three devices registrations for one MarketPlace account. Once you have registered as a developer (it will cost you $99 a year) you will have to use the Windows Phone 7 Developer Phone Registration application pictured above. The device ID will then be associated to your MarketPlace developer account and show up in you Dashboard on the Marketplace website.
