I finally took the time to flash yesterday’s leaked Omnia 7 Mango I8700XXKH2 firmware and used it for a few hours to try to see if there was anything new in there. First off you must remember that this is an engineering T-Mobile DE ROM that includes all of the carriers apps that can easily be uninstalled afterwards. Thankfully it also includes several fixes and improvements that I’m going to list below:
1) Updated camera driver: Touch-focus now works (instead of simply touch-to-capture), Bing Vision no longer looses focus and correctly adjusts the white balance in low light environments.
2) Updated Motion Sensors driver: Digital Compass is now faster and more accurate. The accelerator is also faster when switching orientation in Internet Explorer.
3) Updated Radio software: WiFi and Cellular data transfers appear to be faster (applications downloads are faster as are page loading times in IE9)
4) The hidden WiFi Network feature is now available.
5) Bing Music is now faster and more accurate (updated mic driver + radio update I guess)
6) Option to select 2G or 3G data connection. Not really new but nice to have it back (thanks for the reminder in the comments)
I’ll update this post if I ever find more stuff so keep an eye on it.
