Microsoft’s Windows Phone team has just detailed the new languages support coming this fall in Mango. As you probably already know, Mango will support 17 new languages in addition to the 6 already supported since launch (not 16 like originally announced): Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian (Bokmål), Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Swedish. The Zune software will also support the set of languages.
Not all the languages listed above will be available on handsets as this is depended on the carrier and phone manufacturer (the more languages the bigger the rom will be..). Mango will also include four new fonts: Simplified Chinese (DengXian), Traditional Chinese (Microsoft MHei), Japanese (Yu Gothic), Korean (Microsoft NeoGothic).
20 new keyboard options will also be included in Mango: Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Ukrainian. (the last two won’t support text-prediction though). Arabic and Hebrew will only be supported as display languages (for example a mail or text received in Arabic will render correctly). Mango will also feature handwriting recognition for est-asian languages.
Also starting this fall users will be able to buy applications from 35 countries around the world: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Last but not least here what features are supported across the world:
1) Bing search (accessed from the phone’s hardware Search button) is available in 33 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States. (Elsewhere, handset and mobile operators can configure the hardware search button to a locally-relevant search site).
2) Local search results show up in 6 countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, and the United States.
3) Maps is supported in 19 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States.
4) Voice-to-text and Voice-to-dial is available in 6 countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, and the Unites States.
5) Voice search is supported in 4 countries: France, Germany, United Kingdom, and the United States.
