Garmin has just released the StreePilot GPS navigation application for Windows Phone 7 today but unfortunately only for US and Canadian users. There are already several full-blown GPS navigation application already available on Windows Phone 7 since launch like Navigon GPS which is pre-loaded for free on T-Mobile’s handsets in Germany and Telemap5 in Asia. Unlike Navigon though, Garmin Streetpilot doesn’t seem to require to have the whole country map loaded on the handset but instead allows users to plan a route and the pre-load only the needed mapping data on the device in case there’s no network connection doing the trip. Check out the full feature list after the break:

– Always up-to-date maps for the U.S. and Canada, downloaded to your device on demand
– Voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions including street names
– Real-time traffic updates included at no additional cost
– Automatic map storage so you can browse maps you’ve recently viewed outside of data coverage areas
– Works great at both 3G and Edge connection speeds
– Speed limits for most major roads
– Integrated Local Search
– Millions of points of interest
– Lane assist with junction view for complicated interchanges
– Address book integration to navigate to contacts
– Current weather conditions and forecast
– Place calls directly from search listing
– Navigate in both portrait and landscape mode
– Easy to install with quick load times

The application costs $39.99 and can be downloaded directly from here. Other applications like GPS Tuner Navigation also offer similar features.

Thanks for the heads up Mohamed
