Just a quick heads up on the Nokia Windows Phone 7 situation. I know that many of you (me included) are expecting and wishing to see Nokia’s first Windows Phone 7 handset later this year but shouldn’t expect any miracles. The Finnish mobile giant never promised anything but instead always stated that it “hoped” to ship its first Windows Phone handset this year but that real volumes will only start to ship in early 2012.

This was reiterated last week by a Nokia representative at the ReMIX11 event here at the Microsoft Campus. 2011 was never mentioned during his whole speech and the emphasis was instead put on early 2012. The bottom line is that If a Nokia Windows Phone 7 device launches this year you can expected to be a PR move more than anything else.
