The Samsung Galaxy A27 leak is the 27 May 2026 rumour UK budget Android shoppers should park alongside any A26 basket. GSMArena published what it says are the full specifications and OnLeaks/MyMobiles renders for Samsung’s next sub-£300 Galaxy A, and the picture is a careful refresh rather than a reinvention. Treat every number below as leaked and unconfirmed until Samsung UK posts a press release.

Key facts (all leaked / rumoured)
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (per GSMArena, citing MyMobiles)
  • Display: 6.7-inch FHD+ flat panel, up from the A26’s 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED
  • Cameras: 50MP main, 5MP ultrawide (downgraded from 8MP on A26), 2MP macro, 12MP selfie (down from 13MP)
  • Battery and charging: 5000 mAh with 25W wired
  • Software: One UI 8.5 on Android 16 out of the box
  • Body: 162.4 x 78.2 x 7.8mm, 200g; renders show Light Pink, Blue and Black
  • microSD card slot removed compared with the A26, a real UK regression for budget buyers
  • UK pricing context: Galaxy A26 5G sits at roughly £280-£320 today at Currys, Argos and Amazon UK

Why this Galaxy A27 leak matters for UK budget Android buyers

The Galaxy A2x line is the most-sold Samsung in Britain that no reviewer wants to talk about. Argos and Currys move it on PAYG, EE and Tesco Mobile stick it on £15-a-month airtime contracts, and Amazon UK runs it as a Prime Day staple. So a Samsung Galaxy A27 leak with this much detail months out from the A26 refresh window is genuinely useful: it tells anyone weighing a Galaxy A26 5G at Currys this week whether to wait.

The short answer, per the leaked spec sheet, is that the A27 is an incremental update. The screen size, battery capacity and 25W charging speed all carry over from the A26. The chipset moves from the Exynos 1380 to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, which on paper should land similar on day-to-day benchmarks but with better modem efficiency. If you are picking between the Galaxy A57 and A56 further up the range, the A27 is firmly the cheaper rung beneath both.

What the Galaxy A27 leak actually changes versus the A26

Three changes in the leak are not upgrades. First, the ultrawide camera reportedly drops from 8MP on the A26 to 5MP on the A27, a real downgrade for a phone that already gives up ground to the Pixel 9a on stills. Second, the selfie camera drops from 13MP to 12MP – cosmetic but symbolically odd on a new model. Third, and most importantly for UK buyers, the microSD slot is reportedly gone. If you bought a Galaxy A partly to drop a £20 SanDisk 256GB card in and dodge Samsung’s storage markup, that argument vanishes with the rumoured A27.

What does improve is the software. The leaked One UI 8.5 on Android 16 build means the A27 should arrive with Samsung’s seven-year update promise still intact, putting it ahead of Motorola’s budget G-series. The same software stack already landed on UK Galaxy S25 owners first in April, so by the rumoured H2 2026 launch the build will be mature.

Samsung Galaxy A27 UK pricing – what the leak does and does not tell us

The leak says nothing about UK pricing, so we will not invent any. Anchor against the A26 today: as of 27 May 2026, Currys lists the Galaxy A26 5G around £279 SIM-free, Argos sits at £299 with frequent £20 voucher promotions, Amazon UK floats between £269 and £319 depending on colour, and Samsung’s UK store holds £329 with trade-in shaving £80-£120 off. EE and Tesco Mobile bundle it from £15-£18 a month with data.

Samsung historically launches A2x updates at the same RRP as the outgoing model, then quietly cuts £30 within six weeks. Expect Samsung UK to open the A27 at around £329 RRP and Currys, Argos and Amazon UK to settle around £279-£299 by autumn – identical territory to the Nothing 3a Pro and to the Pixel 9a on offer, exactly the comparison set we mapped in our UK mid-range Android guide.

UK carrier and retailer angles on the Galaxy A27 leak

Samsung’s budget Galaxy A line sells in Britain on contract more than any other way. The A26 is a staple on EE’s Smart Plans from £15-£18 a month, Tesco Mobile and iD Mobile run it as an entry tier under £20, and VodafoneThree pushes it through the Three-side estate at similar money. None of those carriers will commit to A27 dates until Samsung UK does, but an A27 on the same RRP will replace the A26 1-for-1 across UK line-ups within two weeks of launch.

Samsung’s UK Galaxy A SKUs have shipped with 5G sub-6GHz support for every UK network since the A23 5G in 2022, and the leaked spec sheet keeps that intact. eSIM support, which the A26 added in the UK, is also expected to carry over. The mid-contract trap to watch is the CPI-plus-3.9 percent price rise Ofcom has been forcing carriers to disclose more clearly since 17 January 2025; that affects an A27 contract bought on EE, VodafoneThree or Virgin Media O2 the same way it hits an A26 contract today.

What UK buyers should actually do about the Galaxy A27 leak right now

If you need a sub-£300 Android in the next week, the A26 5G at £279 from Currys is still the pick; the leak does not change that. If you can wait, the rumoured A27 should land within the late-summer-to-October window Samsung has used for the A2x since 2021, and A26 prices will drop another £30-£50 the moment it does.

If you are deciding between Samsung’s budget A2x and a mid-range A5x, the leak does not change that maths either. The A57 still beats anything in the A2x tier on cameras, screen and chipset; our Galaxy A57 vs A56 buyer’s guide remains the right starting point if you can stretch.

One last reminder: this is a leak. OnLeaks has a strong but imperfect record on case-maker-sourced Samsung renders, and the ultrawide-megapixel detail is exactly the kind of spec that has moved between leak and launch before. Treat every number above as a working hypothesis, not a press release. Samsung UK has not posted pricing, availability or a launch date. When it does, we will update this piece.

Where the Galaxy A27 leak fits in MTW’s broader UK buying advice

The A27 sits at the entry of the UK ladder MTW has mapped all year. Above it sit the A56 and A57. Above those sit the flagships we covered in our Pixel 10 Pro vs Galaxy S26 Ultra comparison. On the foldable side, our UK foldable buying guide covers the Z Fold7 and razr ultra. iPhone-curious budget buyers should also read our Best iPhone UK 2026 guide before signing a Galaxy A27 contract; Apple’s £499 iPhone 16e tier is closer than UK shoppers think on monthly money.

MTW verdict

If the Samsung Galaxy A27 leak is accurate, it is a tidy chipset and software refresh wrapped around two real regressions: a downgraded ultrawide and a deleted microSD slot. UK buyers needing a sub-£300 Android right now should buy the A26 5G at Currys or Argos with no regrets. UK buyers who can wait until autumn should hold for the A27 at roughly the same RRP and pocket a £30-£50 A26 clearance saving in the meantime. The A2x line remains the most quietly important Galaxy in Britain – the A27 looks set to keep it that way.
